This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, Prophet Malachi. He lived at a time when the rebuilding of the Holy House in Jerusalem had been already completed and the services of worship were happening on a regular basis. As time passed, Bani-Israel began to depart from the Lord God once again. The spiritual problems mentioned in this scripture are the same ones noted in Nehemiah: intermarriage with disbelievers, improper use of money, failure to give towards the work of God, and an attitude of rejection of spiritual things.
