Yusha

Yusha (or Joshua), provides a link between the life and work of Prophet Musa (pbuh) and the history of Bani-Israel after they entered into the land promised to their forefathers by Allah. Just as Exodus records how Bani-Israel escaped from the land of Egypt, so Yusha records how Bani-Israel entered into the land called Canaan (later known as Israel or Palestine). The events of Yusha begin exactly where the events of Deuteronomy end. At that time, Bani-Israel was staying in tents on the east side of the Jordan River in the land then called Moab (modern-day Jordan). Prophet Musa (pbuh) had died and Prophet Yusha (pbuh) had become the leader of Bani-Israel and its army. It was Yusha’s responsibility to lead Bani-Israel over the Jordan River into the land of Canaan (modern-day Palestine/Israel). Even though Yusha (pbuh) was skilled as a military commander, it was because of his spiritual mindset and faith in Allah that he was appointed to lead Bani-Israel. He was 90 years old when he became leader of Bani-Israel in place of Prophet Musa (pbuh).
