Exodus

Exodus is the name of the second section of the holy Taurat. The name “Exodus” means “exit” or “departure”. Exodus records the birth of Prophet Musa at a time when Bani-Israel (the descendants of Prophet Yaqub) were living as slaves in Egypt. It tells of the plagues God brought upon Firaun and his people. It also relates how God allowed Israel to cross the Red Sea on dry land and escape their bondage in Egypt. Later, the Lord God meets with Prophet Musa on the holy mountain and gives his Ten Commandments, written on tables of stone. It concludes with instructions on how Bani-Israel is to worship God acceptably.
