This portion of Al-Kitab takes its name from its author, the apostle Peter (pbuh). This second letter is addressed to all followers of ‘Isa al-Masih everywhere. Its purpose is to expose the evil works and heresy of false teachers, and the bad character they produce. Peter (pbuh) teaches that if a person establishes a proper relationship with Allah and ‘Isa al-Masih, a solution is found to the perils of false teachers. Some false teachers were saying that there would be no future judgment. But Peter (pbuh) reveals clearly that ‘Isa al-Masih will certainly return to earth and qiyamat will follow, no matter what scoffers say today. Peter (pbuh) teaches that one of the reasons that qiyamat has not yet come is because of the great patience of Allah, who does not want anyone to perish but for all people to repent and believe.
