Zabur 110

A Psalm by Dawud.

1YAHWEH1 said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”2
2YAHWEH will send forth the rod of your strength out of Al-Quds.3
Rule in the midst of your enemies.

3Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
4YAHWEH has sworn, and will not change his mind:
You are a priest forever in the order of Malki-Siddiq.”4

5The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
6He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole earth.
7He will drink of the brook in the way;
Therefore he will lift up his head.

  1. 110:1 YAHWEH, the name God revealed to Prophet Musa in the Taurat, Exodus 3:15 – God said moreover to Musa, “You shall tell Bani-Israel this, ‘YAHWEH, the God of your fathers, the God of Ibrahim, the God of Ishaq, and the God of Yaqub, has sent me to you.’ This is my Name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered to all generations.” ↩︎
  2. 110:1 Quoted by ‘ISA AL-MASIH in the Injil, Matthew 22:44. Matthew 22:41-45 says: Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, ‘ISA asked them a question, saying, “What do you think of AL-MASIH? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of Dawud.” He said to them, “How then does Dawud in the Spirit call him Lord, saying, ‘The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?”’ If then Dawud calls him Lord, how is he his son?” Also quoted in Mark 12:36 and Luke 20:42-43. ↩︎
  3. 110:2 Al-Quds, meaning “the Holy (City).” The Hebrew text reads Zion, a synonym for Jerusalem. It originally referred to Mount Zion, one of the hills of Jerusalem. ↩︎
  4. 110:4 Quoted in the Injil, Hebrews 7:20-21 as being fulfilled in ‘ISA AL-MASIH, now made a high priest by God: “Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath (for they indeed were made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by God who said to him, ‘The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind, “You are a priest forever in the order of Malki-Siddiq.”‘” Also see Hebrews 5:6; 7:17.
Malki-Siddiq (or Melchizedek) is first mentioned in the Taurat, Genesis 14:18-20, which says, “Malki-Siddiq king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High. He blessed him [Ibrahim], and said, ‘Blessed be Ibram by God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth: and praise be to God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.’ Ibram gave him a tenth of all.’ ↩︎
