Now it happened after the death of Musa the servant of Allah, that Allah spoke to Yusha bin Nun, Musa’s assistant, saying, 2Musa my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all Bani-Israel, to the land which I give to them. 3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread on have I given to you, as I spoke to Musa. 4From the wilderness and Lebanon, to the great river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the west, shall be your border. 5No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Musa, so I will be with you; I will not fail you, nor forsake you. 6Be strong and of good courage; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7Only be strong and very courageous, to be careful to do according to all the Taurat, which Musa my servant commanded you: do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8This Book of the Taurat shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. 9Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Allah your God is with you wherever you go. 10Then Yusha commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over the Jordan River, to go in to possess the land, which Allah your God gives you. 12To the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, Yusha said, 13Remember the word which Musa the servant of Allah commanded you, saying, Allah your God gives you rest, and will give you this land. 14Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall stay in the land which Musa gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them; 15until Allah has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they also have possessed the land which Allah your God gives them: then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Musa the servant of Allah gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise. 16They answered Yusha, saying, All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17Just as we listened to Musa in all things, so we will listen to you: only may Allahyour God be with you, as he was with Musa. 18Whoever shall rebel against your commandment, and shall not listen to your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death: only be strong and of good courage.
