1<\/sup>The heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.\u00a02<\/sup>On the seventh day God1<\/a><\/sup> finished the work he had been doing; so he rested on the seventh day from all his work.2<\/a><\/sup>\u00a03<\/sup>God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all the work of creation that he had done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4<\/sup>This is the account of the creation of the heavens and of the earth, in the day that YAHWEH3<\/a><\/sup> God made the earth and the heavens. 5<\/sup>No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for YAHWEH God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground, 6<\/sup>but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.\u00a07<\/sup>YAHWEH God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Adam became a living soul.4<\/a><\/sup>\u00a08<\/sup>YAHWEH God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9<\/sup>Out of the ground YAHWEH God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10<\/sup>A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became four heads.\u00a011<\/sup>The name of the first is Pishon: this is the one which flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;\u00a012<\/sup>and the gold of that land is good. There is aromatic resin and the onyx stone.\u00a013<\/sup>The name of the second river is Gihon: the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.\u00a014<\/sup>The name of the third river is Hiddekel: this is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.\u00a015<\/sup>YAHWEH God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16<\/sup>YAHWEH God commanded the man, saying, “<\/em>Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat:\u00a017<\/sup>but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18<\/sup>YAHWEH God said, “<\/em>It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”\u00a019<\/sup>Out of the ground YAHWEH God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20<\/sup>The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for\u00a0Adam\u00a0there was not found a helper suitable for him.\u00a021<\/sup>YAHWEH God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and God took one of the man’s ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22<\/sup>He made the rib, which YAHWEH God had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her to the man. 23<\/sup>The man said,\u00a0“<\/em>This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”\u00a024<\/sup>For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and the two will become one flesh.5<\/a><\/sup>\u00a025<\/sup>They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 2:2 God<\/em>, English translation of elohim<\/em>. Elohim<\/em> (Hebrew) is related to allah<\/em> (Arabic) and alaha<\/em> (Syriac), all of which translate as “God,” and refer to the one true God. \u21a9\ufe0e<\/a><\/li>

However, “YAHWEH” is the Name by which the one true God called himself when he revealed it to the Prophet Musa as recorded in Exodus 3:15: ‘God said moreover to Musa, \u201cYou shall tell Bani-Israel this, \u2018YAHWEH, the God of your fathers, the God of Ibrahim, the God of Ishaq, and the God of Yaqub, has sent me to you.\u2019 This is my Name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered to all generations.\u201d’ The name “YAHWEH” is found more than 6,800 times in the Taurat, Zabur<\/em> and Injil<\/em>, but not once in the Quran<\/em>. The name “YAHWEH” is often substituted with “the LORD” in English translations of the Taurat<\/em>. \u21a9\ufe0e<\/a><\/li>
  4. 2:7 Quoted in the Holy Injil<\/em>, 1 Corinthians 15:45, which says, “So also it is written that the first man ‘Adam became a living soul<\/em>.’ The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” The ‘last Adam’ refers to ‘ISA AL-MASIH (Jesus Christ), who is also known as ‘ISA RUHULLAH (Jesus, Spirit of God). \u21a9\ufe0e<\/a><\/li>
